Ethics Committee on Assisted Reproduction Technology (ECART)
ECART reviews applications for human reproductive research and assisted reproductive procedures.
ECART is a committee which considers and determines new applications for human reproductive research and assisted reproductive procedures. ECART also reviews previous applications that have been approved and monitors the progress of existing research.
ECART was established under section 27 of the Human Assisted Reproductive Technology (HART) Act 2004. ECART works closely with the Advisory Committee for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ACART), which produces guidelines for ECART, consults with the New Zealand public, and advises the Minister of Health on policy. These two committees replaced the National Ethics Committee on Assisted Human Reproduction (NECAHR) in 2004.
